The Humble Leader

It ain't the heat, it's the humility
It ain't the heat, it's the humility

As a leader, I am responsible for my world. To be responsible, is to be able to respond, and when it gets hot, it’s time to turn up the humility. The humble leader responds from a place of integrity and alignment with their “leader within.” The humble ‘leader within,’ leads from a place of self-acceptance and self-authority. The ego remains in check as the leader begins to get curious and starts asking ‘what’ so you find out ‘why.’

In my quest to lead 100 million Witty and Wise (and vulnerable) conversations, I’ve experience ‘the heat,’ quite a few times. It’s an incredible opportunity to tap into your ‘student brain’ and get more curious. Your ‘leader brain’ doesn’t do well in the heat. Just ask Yogi Berra.

Your leader within has a purpose. The next time you find yourself in the heat, turn up the humility and start getting curious.

Why do you choose to lead? Where have you abandoned your leader within? Where are you not claiming your full authority? Where have you abdicated responsibility?

I have learned much from my teachers, more from my colleagues, and the most from my students. - The Talmud
